A complete design was produced and approved by all stakeholders within a very tight programme to ensure a fixed date for a blockade was met, this included a fully assured design and fabrication drawings to allow manaufacture.
As Principal Contractor, Spoortech developed and executed a suite of documents in preparation for the works. In collaboration with the Client, all documents were approved ahead of project delivery. These included:
During the design investigation, a discrepancy was identified with the existing staircase on Platform 4/5. To achieve compliance, the new staircase would require a relocation 200mm. To achieve this Spoortech proactively worked with the Designer to develop a solution.
The thickening of the existing staircase pier would enable the relocation of the staircase and compliance achieved. After expediting the design solution and additional scope, execution of the Platform Stairs on programme was maintained.
Successful project delivery involved the effective utilisation of available windows to complete the works during a 52hour Possession. Detailed communication, planning and contingencies were essential to productive removal and installation of the new staircases.
Spoortech optimised the available times for the scope delivery. Staging Management Teams, Workforces and Equipment throughout the possession. All works were completed compliantly with appropriate supervision available and regular communication to the Project Team with program updates.
Within the project scope, Spoortech engaged specialist contractors to ensure project accomplishment.
McNealy Brown (MNB) are an experienced contractor providing quality bespoke metalwork. With their in-house capabilities, Spoortech were able to interact with MNB continuously for the duration of the scope in preparation for the works.
A Factory Acceptance Test prior to staircase installation finalised the design development and proactively enabled checking prior to delivery.
With 30 years’ experience in providing hire solutions to the rail industry Quattro Plant provided the right equipment and specialist operators to complete both removal and install.
All Quattro Plant machinery is certified to work on the Network Rail managed infrastructure, in accordance to the organisations Plant Operators Scheme licence, and all operators hold full CPCS and PTS certification
The use of our approved and tested supply chain ensured that decisions were timely, effective, and planning was centralised. This ensured maintenance of the project programme and delivering the project safely and right first time.
